Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to Your Construction Queries

Do I legally need a QBCC licence to supervise or build?

Yes. In Queensland, it’s illegal to build or supervise site work without the correct QBCC licence, no matter how much experience you have.

What’s the difference between Low-Rise, Medium-Rise, and Open licences?

Low-Rise covers smaller projects (up to 2000m²), Medium-Rise goes up to 3 storeys, and Open covers all building classes with no restrictions.

How long does the licence application process take?

With the right qualification, approval can take just 1–6 weeks. If you need RPL or extra training, expect 6–12 weeks.

What happens if I apply myself instead of using QBCC Express?

You can, but it often takes months due to chasing referees, compiling evidence, and meeting QBCC’s strict requirements. We take that burden off your hands.

What’s the first step to get started?
